Bob used his liquid black base coat to help create the
beautiful, subtle effects for many of his oil paintings. He
also would blend the liquid black and liquid white base coat
mediums to create a subtle grey for effects such as an overcast
day. Most often the liquid black base coat is used in place of
liquid white for large areas where dark colors need to be
applied in order for highlights, such as foilage, to be painted
without having to add an extra layer of paint to the
canvas.
